For expats living in the Philippines, there are certain things to keep in mind to ensure a smooth transition and an enjoyable experience.
Do's:
- Learn some basic phrases in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines, to show respect and better integrate into the community.
 - Be respectful of local customs and traditions, especially when it comes to religion and dress code.
 - Dress modestly and conservatively in public places, especially in rural areas.
 - Carry small bills and change for transactions, as many vendors may not have change for larger denominations.
 - Be patient and understanding with traffic and transportation delays, as they are common in the Philippines.
 - Be open to trying new foods and experiences.
 - Build a network of local contacts to help navigate the culture and community.
 - Be prepared for unexpected power outages and transportation delays.

Don'ts:
- Do not assume that all Filipinos are poor or uneducated.
 - Do not make negative or stereotypical comments about the country or its people.
 - Do not bring illegal drugs or firearms into the country.
 - Do not disrespect local religious practices or beliefs.
 - Don't litter or leave trash in public places, as it is considered disrespectful and can harm the environment.
 - Don't raise your voice or lose your temper in public, as it is considered impolite and can cause offense.
 - Don't assume that everyone speaks English, as many Filipinos speak multiple languages, but English is not always one of them.
